Rodrigo Vásquez M “VARITO”, originally from San Jose, Costa Rica, has been involved in arts since he was 7yrs, Graduate as a Musician and with a Bachelor's in Hotel Management. By 1990 decided to change his career to become a Florist opening his own Floral Studio in Costa Rica "Varo Flowers".


During his 25 years as a successful designer in Costa Rica, he got involved in several Floral and Event-related local projects. He becomes the first official Wedding Planner and created the first Wedding Planner Association in his country.

He travels all CentroAmerican Countries doing Floral Shows and small showrooms for several companies related to his industry


His mane still keeps an important position in the Costa Rican Wedding and Floral industry History. “How to be a Master of Ceremonies for weddings”, “Protocol for Special Events” “ How to be an Event and Conventions Master of Ceremonies”, “How to be an Event Planner”, “Creativity in the Events”, “How to Budget your Wedding and Negotiate with Vendors”, was part of his main local Seminars.


As a Floral designer with a trajectory of 30 years, He has attended masterclasses with KiKe Leon (Spain), Ruben Conza AIFD (Puerto Rico), Rafael Toro (Colombia), Mery Perry White AIFD, Gregor Lersch (Germany), Mario Fernandez AIFD(USA), Armando Ayala AIFD(Mexico), Phill Rulloda AIFD, Hitomi Gilliam AIFD, Pim van der Akken, Francoise Weeks, Rene Van Rems AIFD, Deborah de La Flor AIFD, as many other International master Teachers.


2014 moved to the United States to begin his journey to becoming an AIFD.


2016 earned his FSMD (Florida State Master Designer) credentials and his FPCF (Florida Professional Certified Florist by the Florida State Florists Association.


His accomplishments


Some accomplishments include:


2012, '14, and '16 Online BARCELONA WORLD FLOWER CUP competition


2015- Designer of the Year – Florida East Coast Floral Association,


2015-, 3rd place in both Teleflora SUNSHINE CUP and FTD Tablescape at FSFA Annual Convention.


2016- 1st Place in FTD Tablescape Competition, 3rd place both in Teleflora Sunshine Cup and Designer of the Year, and awarded scholarships to the AIFD Symposium and the Floriology program at the FSFA convention.


Also in 2016, I joined the FSFA as part of their Educational Panel, and in 2021 as part of the Florida State Florist Association Board of Members


Memorable moments


On my first Symposium Ahahein 2016 when I helped my good friend and mentor Leopoldo Gomez CFD, along with a group of volunteers, create a hanging bouquet with 1600 elements.


2017 "Mythic The Mystical Wire and armatures" stage program I've created for the FSFA mid-season convention


2017 honored to be part of the first group of designers at the Jim Johnson Cup in Houston


2017,18, 19, and recently 2020 some of my Floral and Artisan Jewelry designs were published in Florist Review Magazine
